INVESTMENT UNDERSCORES STRATEGIC SIGNIFICANCE OF LOCATION
Attractive location with good infrastructure and a highly qualified workforce
Today Klingelnberg AG will hold a ceremony to mark the opening of its new corporate building in the Oerlikon district. A testament to Klingelnberg's commitment to Zurich, the new building strengthens the company's presence at its headquarters.
Starting immediately, the new building will accommodate employees from Sales and Development, as well as a training center. CEO Jan Klingelnberg explains the reasoning behind the new building: "Our economic strength enabled us to realize this project – in the face of the general reluctance to invest in recent years. For us, Zurich is an attractive location with a good infrastructure and a highly-qualified workforce. These will form the basis for fundamental research and the development of sustainable technologies at the new location. The decision to strategically expand our activities here is merely a logical consequence."
Outlook for the city and the location
In the next stage of development, Klingelnberg will open a state-of-the-art production facility in Zurich. It will be responsible for final assembly and will operate according to lean-management and Kaizen principles. These manufacturing principles will be facilitated by the building's special architecture, among other features, which will ensure a seamless product flow. "The optimized production processes will significantly reduce the processing times for machine assembly. Customers will benefit from short delivery times with the quality they have come to expect from Klingelnberg. In the future, other attractive jobs with good prospects will be created here. This is a major opportunity for our Zurich location," continues CEO Jan Klingelnberg.
Historical connection
The land purchase and the new building in Oerlikon mean a return to a significant place in the company's recent history, near the site of the former Oerlikon Geartec AG, which was acquired by Klingelnberg in 1993. That same year, Klingelnberg relocated its headquarters to the Turbinenstrasse location in Zurich.
