Seventeen companies in all took part in this year’s “Nacht der Unternehmen” (Night of Companies) event in Hückeswagen, located in Germany’s Oberbergischer Kreis region. The open house took place from 3:00 PM to 10:00 PM on 12 May 2023. Among the companies present was the machine manufacturer Klingelnberg, the region’s largest employer. The aim of the event was to give visitors insight into the day-to-day production activities of a machine manufacturer with operations around the globe. The response from interested candidates as well as former employees and family members was overwhelmingly positive. Klingelnberg counted over 1000 guests at each site by the end of the event.
This year, Klingelnberg opened its doors to all interested candidates – both at its long-established headquarters on Peterstrasse and at its newly built assembly shop, located on Gustav-Adolf-Klingelnberg-Straße. Since late 2022, Klingelnberg has been using the facility to build large gear manufacturing machines, whose primary application is in the wind power industry. The event was also a good opportunity for Klingelnberg employees to show their families around their workplace. The guests were guided in small groups through the machine building and instrumentation areas, where they learned lots of interesting facts about gear technology and its history.
And many former colleagues enjoyed seeing their old employer again, and were amazed at the many innovations and advances of recent years. One former colleague proudly presented three record books he had kept from his vocational training internship, which he completed in 1955. Other retired colleagues fondly reminisced about their time at Klingelnberg, and had to resist the urge to join in on the machine assembly line or prepare goods for shipping in the Logistics department.
Of course, there was plenty to eat and drink during the seven-hour event, including desserts in the afternoon and delicious food from the grill throughout the evening. “The event was a complete success. We were delighted by the large turnout,” said Michael Schwarzer, Director Human Resources at Klingelnberg. “A few interested candidates even submitted their resumes directly to us at the Human Resources booth. We’re having a close look at them now.”
