Certificate Awards Ceremony: “ROCKID – Apprentices in Schools” Project Boosts Digital Literacy

At this year’s “Einstieg Berufe live Rheinland” event, Klingelnbergs’s commitment to the “ROCKID – Apprentices in Schools” (“ROCKID – Azubis an Schulen”) project was honored with a celebratory presentation of certificates. The event – which took place in Cologne, Germany, from 08 to 09 November 2024 – is a vocational training and higher education fair. Over the two-day event, a wide range of exhibitors are on hand to advise school-age students, students and apprentices changing majors or areas of training, gap year students, teachers and parents on all aspects of education, programs, funding, studying abroad, applying for jobs and careers. The “Apprentices in Schools” project, organized by the ROCKID.one e.V. association, brings together companies, schools and apprentices to promote digital literacy, while offering apprentices valuable personal development opportunities.

In 2023/24, ten Klingelnberg apprentices got involved at various schools in Hückeswagen and Wipperfürth, two towns located in the district Oberbergischer Kreis, to teach students practical digital and media literacy skills. At present, eight apprentices are supporting the project. The participating schools, including Förderschule Nordkreis, Löwen-Grundschule (both in Hückeswagen), Gemeinschaftsgrundschule Mühlenberg and Katholische Grundschule St. Antonius (both in Wipperfürth), are currently benefiting from a curriculum enriched by the Klingelnberg apprentices' contribution.

“The ‘Apprentices in Schools’ project not only supports teachers by providing additional resources for media lessons, but also helps to promote a modern learning environment and optimally prepare students for the digital future,” says Holger Stoffel, Head of Apprenticeship Training at Klingelnberg. “We are proud of the commitment and dedication of our apprentices and look forward to being a part of efforts to develop digital literacy in the future. We would like to thank everyone involved for their contribution to this important educational project.”

The mechanical engineering company will also be offering apprenticeships again in 2025. Interested candidates can find more information at: career/training
