The Klingelnberg Group's Technical Documentation department is celebrating a very special achievement: For the ninth time, one of the company's operating instructions received the prestigious tekom documentation award for its exceptional user-friendliness. "tekom", which stands for "Gesellschaft für Technische Kommunikation e.V.", is the professional association for technical communication and information development, headquartered in Stuttgart, Germany.
This year, the most coveted seal of quality was awarded to the operating instruction for the HÖFLER RAPID 1600 cylindrical gear grinding machine with a grade of 1.6 (according to the German school-grading system, roughly equivalent to an American "A" grade). This marked the first time that documentation from the machine builder's Cylindrical Gear Technology division had received the award. In 2012, Klingelnberg assumed the core competencies of the former Höfler Maschinenbau GmbH and added machines for machining cylindrical gears to its range of products, thus reinforcing its position as a complete system provider.
"With the documentation award, we have once again received a fantastic award that shows we are on track with our high quality standards," says a delighted Pascal Kesselmark, Head of Technical Documentation at the Klingelnberg Group. "Not only do our operating manuals fully meet this extremely high quality standard from our customers' perspective; we also hold our supplier documentation to the very same standards."
Dr. Hartmuth Müller, CTO of the Klingelnberg Group, is also thrilled: "Exceptionally high-quality operating manuals are now among the key competitive advantages in our industry. The tekom documentation award is thus representative of the high quality of all Klingelnberg operating manuals, all of which are based on the same concept. The criteria against which our documentation is measured include ease of comprehension, compliance with all standard-relevant requirements and a well-structured graphical presentation."
Since 2005, the tekom professional association has been presenting the award each year to instruction guides and operating manuals for consumer and investment products, as well as online help systems for software products. To select the award-worthy document, tekom uses a team of independent technical documentation experts to evaluate all submitted manuals according to a pre-defined catalog of criteria.
